What do we want? CATS GETTING ADOPTED
When do we want it? When you let the public know how to adopt and care for our kitties!
You know that the whole purpose of the Animal Welfare Department is to keep, socialize, prepare the pets for life with a human, and the final step is to find that perfect person for the perfect pet. As an adoption counselor you'll get the chance to talk to the public, let them know what kind of pets are available at the moment and their characteristics like age, size, personality and other traits that may match the person, but also guide them through the process on how to adapt everyone to this new life and environment, as well as making sure the person already knows about how to care and interact with the pet's behavior. You may also aide shelter staff with people meeting the pets in their defined introduction areas.
To volunteer as a cat adoption counselor, you need the Cat Behavior Training, Cat Shadowing session(s) and Animal Adoption Counseling Training. Since the animal Adoption Counseling Training is virtual, when you've completed it need to upload your Certificate of completion and you can request your Animal Adoption Counselor add-on to your badge and wear it while you volunteer so that the public know they can approach you.
If you haven't, remember you can continue your cat handling journey.
