Description

S.T.E.A.M. Night at the Balloon Museum is an evening event for curious minds of all ages. Four times a year, the museum explores a new science, technology, engineering, art, or math theme related to ballooning through performances, demonstrations, experimentation, and hands-on activities.

This month, we have partnered with the Fractal Foundation to bring you "Flying Fractals."  Volunteers will help visitors explore fractals through a variety of hands-on activities and visual demonstrations as local expert Jonathan Wolfe discusses these awe-inspiring patterns. Outdoors, get up close to the Infinitude balloon and enjoy food from the Munchie Truck. Expand your horizons with us at this special evening event!

There are many ways to help:

Greeter: Greeters welcome visitors as they enter the Balloon Museum, sharing general information, offering directions, promoting upcoming museum events, and answering questions. they circulate through the museum periodically and communicate with museum staff if anything needs attention.  Basic Volunteer Orientation and Greeter training required.

Activity Assistants:  Assist with activities. Create a welcoming, supportive environment for visitors by encouraging participation in hands-on activities.  Keep the space tidy, replenish materials, and clean up after participants as needed.  Arrive early to help set up and or stay after to take down activities and displays. No advance training required.

Elevation Station Hosts: – Hosts create an engaging and welcoming environment for children and adults in the immersive Elevation Station exhibit. They encourage healthy participation by modeling interactive gameplay on the touch table, on the projection walls, and at the wind tunnels. Hosts monitor the capacity in the exhibit, keep the space tidy, replenish materials, clean high-touch surface areas, and alert museum staff if interactives need rebooting. Basic Volunteer Orientation required
