Pamoja 5k Race for Equity

Expired

Description

The New Mexico Black Leadership Council (NMBLC) invites everyone in the International District- and all Burqueños- to our inaugural Pamoja 5k Race for Equity. "Pamoja" is Swahili for "better together," which is how we work to impact the communities around us. The race runs through the heart of the most diverse neighborhood in the city and brings people together to focus on shared goals and community resiliency. The race is free and will happen rain-or-shine. The event page for Pamoja can be found here: https://nmblc.org/pamoja-5k/

What the NMBLC is asking of our volunteers is to give of your time in any of the following capacities:

a) pre-race set-up, Sat. 9/24 8-11a (shift 1) and 11a-2p (shift 2);

b) race day set-up, Sun. 9/25 6-10a; and

c) race operations, Sun 9/25 8-11a (shift 1) and 11a-2p (shift 2).

Volunteers are welcome to take multiple shifts on Saturday or Sunday if they're so inclined. Our pre-race set-up on Saturday will involve adding signage to the neighborhood, race course, and parking lots; helping install the race hub grandstand; helping vendors/sponsors set-up their tents, tables, and installations; runner sign-ups and packet pick-ups; and helping demarcate the Ortiz parking lot and kid K fun-run course.

Our race day set-up on Sunday will complete the aforementioned set-ups and race operations will assist with runner sign-ups and packet pick-ups; crowd control and announcements; day-of course demarcations and signage; parking lot security (3 locations); vendor site assistance; award ceremony assistance; breakdown work (both lots, grandstand area, and signage); general production and communications assistance to the NMBLC team and some unanticipated needs.

The members of the NMBLC want to thank everyone who chooses to volunteer for what we consider a very worthwhile event! And if you have any questions or concerns, please see our contact numbers and names on this same announcement. If anyone you know is interested in the race itself, please send them to https://nmblc.org/pamoja-5k/
