Film Screeners (Needed Jan - May 2025)
AFMX is recruiting volunteers, filmmakers, and cinephiles for our 2025 film screening team. Thanks to our dedicated film screeners last year, we viewed over 200 films worldwide and presented over 80 short and feature films, documentaries, music, and animated videos from around the world. As a volunteer screener, we ask that you contribute review and scoring on at least 25% of our submissions. Screeners that meet the minimum screening % will receive a Festival pass to attend in person during festival week, September 24 - 28, 2025. Please read the information below and click on the "RESPOND" button at the end. You will receive an email with additional information and access to the films to screen. As a film screener, you will be responsible for:
- Viewing at least 25% or more of film submissions.
- Provide brief feedback and score on each submission.
- Contribute to the voting process to select which films are selected for the 2025 festival.
Our submissions will be open starting in January and run through mid-May. All submissions must be screened by mid-May. Our screeners are paramount to our film selection process. EXPECTATIONS: Screening Team members will watch and review all submitted entries to the Albuquerque Film & Music Experience via the FilmFreeway portal. Screeners will make recommendations regarding the acceptance of films to the festival, utilizing a rating system to judge each entry.
We ask our screening team to provide feedback on as many films as possible. AFMX judges rely heavily on our screening team's assessment of the films to help create the festival programming and awards ceremony. And yes, we read all the notes, so please be honest, professional, yet succinct in your feedback on why or why not to recommend a film for AFMX programming. Filmmaking experience or set experience is not required but is certainly beneficial. Utmost professionalism and discretion while participating as a film screener.
