Volunteer with the Parks and Recreation Open Space Division for Party for the Planet!
Party for the Planet will be held on April 17, 2021. This is a collaborative volunteer event held by the City of Albuquerque’s Parks and Recreation Department’s Open Space Division and the Albuquerque BioPark.
Volunteers will gather to celebrate our planet and natural environment through service. The Open Space Division will be planting the following native plants throughout the Bosque Open Space near Tingly Beach. These native species include:
- Nolina microcarpa
- Chrysothamnus nauseosus
- Fallugia paradoxa
- Ericameria laricifolia ‘Aguirre’
- Hesperaloe parviflora
- Quercus gambelii (multi stem)
- Forestiera neomexicana
This event will be held in accordance with the CDC and NM DoH COVID-19 guidelines to ensure the safety of all volunteers participating. Volunteer group size will be strictly limited and all volunteers must wear appropriate PPE whenever in the proximity of others.
Please dress appropriately for outdoor activities. Sunscreen, protective clothing (gloves, hats, closed-toed shoes), and weather-appropriate clothing is encouraged. These plantings will take place in off-trail locations and may not be easily accessible by residents with limited mobility. Volunteers participating in the plantings should anticipate moderate physical activity and may need to lift objects between 20lbs-50lbs, depending on the size of the shrubs being planted.
