Secretary – Board of Directors Angels' Voices Silenced No More (AVSNM)
Angels' Voices Silenced No More (AVSNM) is a New Mexico-based nonprofit dedicated to advocacy, awareness, and support for families of the missing and murdered. We are seeking a volunteer Secretary to join our Board of Directors and help keep our organization running with clarity and accountability.
About the Role
The Secretary serves as a voting board member and is responsible for the accurate documentation and communication of AVSNM's organizational activities. This role is essential to good governance and ensures the board operates with transparency and continuity.
Key Responsibilities
- Record and distribute accurate minutes for all board meetings
- Maintain official organizational records, documents, and correspondence
- Track board member attendance and ensure quorum requirements are met
- Assist with preparation and distribution of meeting agendas in coordination with the President
- File required reports and maintain compliance documentation as needed
- Serve as a point of contact for official organizational correspondence
What We're Looking For
- Strong organizational and written communication skills
- Attention to detail and ability to produce clear, accurate records
- Familiarity with basic office tools such as Google Workspace or Microsoft 365
- Experience with nonprofit governance or administrative roles is a plus
- Passion for justice and the families we serve
- Ability to attend monthly board meetings and contribute meaningfully between sessions
This is a volunteer position. Board members serve without compensation and are expected to participate actively in organizational governance and mission delivery.
