Family Preparedness Clinic - Pro Bono Attorney Role

Description

NMILC's Family Preparedness Clinic support immigrant family members to think through preparing in case of deportation or detention, ensuring their household has plans in place to care for their children and protecting their property/assets. These clinics take place monthly on Fridays.

Pro Bono Attorneys will provide brief advice/services during the second half of the clinic, from 11:00am-1:00pm, though we welcome you to join for any part of that time that you are available. Pro bono attorneys play an important role in the clinic by meeting with clinic participants about asset protections (POAs for property, etc.) and family law preparedness recommendations (including POAs, guardianship, etc.). We need approximately 6-8 pro bono attorneys with experience in family law and/or asset protections/property law to help with brief legal advice at this clinic. We are particularly in need of family law attorneys. We have a recorded training from our first pilot clinic that will be shared with participating pro bono attorneys, Interpretation will be provided for attorneys who do not speak Spanish.
