UVNR is seeking volunteers to support our annual “Around the World in 5K” Fundraiser, a community event that celebrates cultural diversity while raising funds for newcomer families in Albuquerque.
UVNR is a community-led nonprofit that works alongside immigrants, refugees, asylum seekers, and other newcomer communities to improve access to resources, strengthen leadership, and promote long-term well-being. This event brings together people from many cultures to run, walk, connect, and celebrate. Volunteers are central to making this event possible. Beyond helping with logistics, volunteering is a meaningful way to contribute to a more welcoming and inclusive community.
Your time help create a space where newcomer families feel supported, valued, and connected. By volunteering, you are directly contributing to efforts that reduce barriers such as social isolation and limited access to resources, while supporting programs that promote mental wellness, youth leadership, and economic opportunity.
Volunteer Roles on May 2nd include: Event set-up and check-in support, Registration and participant guidance Course direction and safety monitoring, Water station support, Raffle table and activity stations (henna, cultural booths, etc.), Clean-up and breakdown after the event No prior experience is required—just a willingness to help and engage with a diverse community.
This is a great opportunity for individuals, students, families, and community groups who want to make a tangible impact and be part of a joyful, multicultural event that strengthens our community!
