American Foundation for Suicide Prevention New Mexico Chapter

Who We Are

We are a small group of volunteers in the New Mexico Chapter looking to grow our volunteer base. This ranges from social media posting, event planning, educational programming related to suicide prevention, assisting with outreach, or even stepping into a leadership role.

What We Do

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) New Mexico Chapter is dedicated to saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide across our state. As part of a nationwide network, we are working to rebuild and grow a strong, connected presence in New Mexico—one that ensures no one feels alone in their struggle. In communities across New Mexico, we are focused on: Expanding education programs like Talk Saves Lives and other evidence-based trainings Building support and connection for those impacted by suicide Growing advocacy efforts to protect mental health Bringing people together through community events and Out of the Darkness Walks New Mexico is a state rich in culture, resilience, and community. As we rebuild, we are intentionally creating a chapter that reflects and serves the diverse communities across our state—including rural and underserved areas—by meeting people where they are and building meaningful, local connections.
