Who We Are

The New Mexico Ramp Project (NMRP) transforms lives by building free wheelchair ramps for New Mexicans facing mobility challenges. Our dedicated volunteers have constructed hundreds of ramps across the state, enabling residents to safely access their homes and maintain their independence. Working closely with healthcare providers and community organizations, we identify individuals who need ramps but cannot afford them. Recipients are selected based on medical necessity and financial circumstances. All materials and labor are provided at no cost through grants, donations and our skilled volunteer network. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we're committed to serving all New Mexico residents, regardless of their background. Our mission extends beyond construction – we're building bridges to greater mobility, dignity, and quality of life for our neighbors in need.

What We Do

The New Mexico Ramp Project was founded July 29, 2019 as a spinoff of the successful Texas Ramp Project, which has over 32,000 completed ramps to its credit. Despite early challenges including operational transitions and COVID-19 disruptions, NMRP has not only endured, but embraced every opportunity to improve performance. Today, we have delivered 665 life-enhancing ramps to families across New Mexico and stand ready and willing to do more. At no cost to them.
