What We Do
The "Seasons of Nonviolence" initiative is a strategic response by Bernalillo County and City of Albuquerque, aiming to foster a culture of peace and community cohesion.
Drawing upon evidence-based strategies proven effective in other urban settings, this initiative integrates city-wide cease-fire efforts, youth employment programs, educational opportunities, community engagement, and mental health support into a cohesive program designed to address the multifaceted nature of violence.
Inspired by the success of cease-fire initiatives, Albuquerque's approach includes direct engagement with high-risk individuals through conflict mediation and community mobilization.
The "Seasons of Nonviolence" initiative represents a comprehensive effort to reduce violent incidents in Albuquerque through a collaborative effort involving local government, non-profits, educational institutions, and community groups.
By implementing these evidence-based strategies, the initiative not only aims to decrease violent crime rates among youth all year but also to enhance community trust, strengthen support networks, and equip individuals with nonviolent coping mechanisms.
Continuous evaluation will ensure the initiative's strategies are effective and responsive to the community's needs, making Albuquerque a safer, more peaceful place to live.
