Older Rainbow Community of Albuquerque

The Older Rainbow Community of Albuquerque (ORCA) is an affiliate of SAGE USA and a program of the EQNM Foundation. We provide a sense of community and advocate for LGBTQ+ elders. Our goals are to educate the general public, service providers, and the LGBTQ+ community about the unique challenges older LGBTQ+ adults face, to connect them to opportunities for support, and to create a community of older LGBTQ+ folks who socialize together, learn together, and look out for one another.

Managed by an Advisory Committee of mostly older LGBT community members, we provide social and educational programs to enhance the lives of older gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender individuals in Albuquerque and the surrounding area. We have provided LGBT Cultural Competency Training to senior serving organizations. The goal of this training is to educate the general public, service providers, and the LGBTQ+ community about the unique challenges older LGBT adults face and to connect LGBT elders to opportunities for support.
