Who We Are
How it all started...
East Gate has been in Albuquerque since the 1930's, in different locations and known by a couple of different names. East Gate moved to our current location at 12120 Copper Ave NE in 2000. Over the years the faces have changed but the mission has stayed the same: to demonstrate to this community the love that God has for them, shown in Jesus. Through the years countless people have come to faith, been baptized, and discipled through the ministry of East Gate in Albuquerque and through different missional endeavors around the world. We are thoroughly planted in this community and are committed to see the message of Jesus demonstrated in this area.
Expanding the vision...
In Matthew 22 Jesus says, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’"
We are passionate about the Great Commandments. First, love God. We do this by searching for a better understanding of Him in scripture, following His instruction, and submitting our lives to Him. Hand in hand with that, we believe that we are to love those He has placed around us. We do that through various outreach ventures including our Mobile Food Pantry and Park Ministry, to name just a couple. We are people who have been changed by God's love and the presence of His Holy Spirit, and we live our lives trying to demonstrate that to the world around us.

Where we are headed...
East Gate is committed to continue to lean in to where God is leading us. Some of that entails enriching and expanding areas and ministries that we are currently involved with, as well as having the courage to launch into new opportunities. Wherever that leads us, and whatever that looks like, it will always be based in the understanding the we serve a good God, who loves people a whole lot. We count it an honor to be involved with what he is doing in this area.

What We Do
The Mission
We believe that God has placed us within this community for a reason. It’s not hard to look around and see the overwhelming amount of need and broken lives in our neighborhoods. We bring a message of hope for people and we present it in how we serve the community around us. One of the ways we do this is by our monthly food distribution where we are able to resource more than 175 local households. We do this on the first Saturday of each month at 10am in our Café.
As you look at scripture you will see Jesus giving a very holistic (mind, body and soul) approach to His message. We do our best to imitate this approach. Whether we are helping people who need food, or giving away backpacks and supplies to students as they begin a new school year, we are always looking for new ways to love our community and point them to a loving God.
We aren’t perfect people and we don’t claim to have all the answers. We are continuing to learn. East Gate is a beautiful mix of people who are new in their faith, and people who have been walking this journey for a while. Wherever you find yourself in your faith, just know, you’ll fit right in here.
