Assistance League® of Albuquerque

We began in 1959 as the Service League of Albuquerque with 23 members and we chartered in 1962 as the 28th chapter of National Assistance League. We are a 501(c)(3) organization with an over 60-year history of philanthropic service to Albuquerque and our surrounding communities. Our mission: Assistance League volunteers transforming the lives of children and adults through community programs. Our over 270 member-volunteers direct all operations, manage/staff three shops, conduct fund-raising, and deliver nine philanthropic programs. Most ALA members are retired professionals from a variety of careers including teachers, administrators, nurses, engineers, lawyers, business professionals and more. We use our life-learned skills and talents to successfully run this many-faceted organization.

The Assistance League® of Albuquerque (ALA), an all-volunteer organization, improves lives through philanthropic programs that fulfill basic needs and enhance the quality of lives in the Albuquerque metropolitan area. ALA currently offers nine philanthropic programs that touch over 18,000 adults and children yearly. ALA’s vision is that “Essential needs are met in our communities and families flourish.” Our programs target vulnerable populations including disadvantaged PreK through High School students and their families; victims of rape and domestic violence; children and adults suffering a critical illness; children in trauma; the hungry and homeless; senior citizen artisans; and low-income students at CNM.
