Who We Are

We began in 1959 as the Service League of Albuquerque with 23 members and we chartered in 1962 as the 28th chapter of National Assistance League. We are a 501(c)(3) organization with an over 60-year history of philanthropic service to Albuquerque and our surrounding communities. Our mission: Assistance League volunteers transforming the lives of children and adults through community programs. Our member-volunteers direct all operations, manage/staff three shops, fundraise, and deliver nine philanthropic programs. Most ALA members are retired professionals from a variety of careers including teachers, administrators, nurses, engineers, lawyers, business professionals and more. We use our life-learned skills and talents to successfully run this many-faceted organization.
