AI Trainee & Lab Support Volunteer

This volunteer role is for anyone who wants to learn how artificial intelligence is used to manage a real working lab. We use AI to track our animals, monitor our plants, organize our classes, and keep the Lab running smoothly. You will learn how to use AI as a practical tool and how to integrate it into everyday workflow.

Responsibilities
• Learn how AI supports animal care, including feeding schedules, habitat notes, and behavior logs
• Assist with plant monitoring using AI-generated checklists, nutrient reminders, and troubleshooting tools
• Help set up and support AI-powered lesson plans for classes, clubs, and community groups
• Use AI to organize tasks, track inventory, record data, and prepare simple reports
• Assist visitors with basic AI questions during tours and workshops
• Keep the Lab’s tech and work areas clean, organized, and ready for the next group
• Follow all safety and privacy guidelines when using AI systems

Skills and Qualifications
• No prior AI experience required — training is provided step by step
• Comfortable using computers and willing to learn new technology
• Reliable, patient, and able to help kids, adults, and seniors
• Team-oriented and adaptable in a busy lab environment

Time Commitment
• One weekly 1–2 hour shift
• Additional training opportunities available

This role is for anyone curious about growing food without soil and learning how plants, water systems, and fish all work together. Volunteers help maintain the hydroponic and aquaponic farm at the AI Living Lab and assist with plant care, basic cleaning, and interacting with visitors.

Our farm feeds our animals!


Responsibilities
• Learn the basics of hydroponic and aquaponic growing, including nutrient mixing, pH testing, and water changes
• Help plant seedlings, transplant crops, and harvest produce
• Feed fish and observe their health and behavior
• Clean and maintain grow beds, tanks, tubing, pumps, and work areas
• Record simple data such as water temperature, pH, and plant growth
• Assist with tours, clubs, and community activities when scheduled
• Follow safety procedures for equipment, electrical systems, and handling fish

Skills and Qualifications
• No experience needed — just curiosity and willingness to learn
• Comfortable working with water, plants, and fish
• Able to follow instructions and keep a routine
• Dependable and willing to work as part of a team
• Good with kids, seniors, and community members who visit the Lab

Time Commitment
