Volunteer: Volunteer Crisis Advocate Training: September 16 - October 2Our Volunteer Crisis Advocates are very important here at the Rape Crisis Center of Central New Mexico (RCC). As a volunteer, your most important job will be staffing/covering the 24/7 Crisis Hotline. All volunteer opportunities include but are not limited to: Hotline (via a cell phone provided by RCC) Shadowing and assisting our advocates as they support survivors with: Law enforcement accompaniments Court hearings Post-rape medical exams (SANE : Sexual Assault Nurse Examinations) Other case management tasks like walking survivors through what is and how to complete restraining orders Community outreach Tabling events where we can get information out about our program (i.e. Comic Con, brewery events, schools, universities, and anywhere else we’re invited to). Resource Compilation (we are presently researching and compiling resources in order to create a book that survivors can keep and reference as needed).RCC requires a 40-hour training that will provide you with the Advocacy training as well as a Certificate from the NACP (National Advocate Credentialing Program). We provide this excellent training free of charge to Volunteer Advocates.
