Volunteer: Interpretive Assistant for Summer 2025Have you ever wanted to spend the summer, leading fun educational and interpretive programs for visitors, school groups, summer camps, and other public groups? Do you seek to learn new skills within environmental education and interpretation? Are you passionate about connecting people to nature and the local landscape? Come join us at the Open Space Visitor Center for a summer experience to engage the public about our incredible Open Spaces and all they have to offer! Duties · Assisting and leading core programs such as Sunset Hikes, Morning Treks, Bosque Birds, and Interpretive Tours · Providing informal interpretation or roving programs to visitors at events, activities, and trails. · Assist with program research, material creation, organization, and evaluation · Providing welcoming and orientation services to visitors at the front desk and trails. · Developing and conducting pop-up programs and activities for visitors and family groups · Assist with conducting and leading learning stations, presentations for school field trips · Assist with program advertisement- flyer restock, posting, photo collection, and outreach · Aid with larger events- community, cultural, and family education events. Skills · Comfortable with public speaking (i.e. giving talks and presentations) · Strong creative, communication skills · Willingness to work with Open Space staff, other volunteers, and visitors · Desire to enhance experiences for guests to learn and connect with public lands · Exceptional customer service skills · Comfortable working with adults and youth · Background in an education capacity or visitor service (preferred but not required) · Positive attitude and enthusiasm!
