Description

We are seeking compassionate, dependable volunteers to join our Hospice Vigil Volunteer Team—a special group dedicated to ensuring that no one faces the end of life alone.

As a vigil volunteer, you provide a calm, comforting presence for patients and their families during their final hours. This may include sitting quietly at the bedside, offering gentle reassurance, or simply being there so families can rest knowing their loved one is not alone.

What This Role Looks Like:

  • On-call availability: Vigil needs can arise at any time, so volunteers are asked to be flexible and responsive when called.
  • Short-notice visits: You may be contacted when a patient is actively dying and a vigil presence is needed.
  • Quiet companionship: Sitting bedside, holding a hand, reading softly, playing music, or maintaining a peaceful space.
  • Support for families: Providing reassurance and a calming presence during a very emotional time.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Compassionate, reliable individuals with a heart for service
  • Ability to be on call and available when needs arise
  • Comfort with end-of-life situations (training is provided)
  • Strong sense of empathy, respect, and presence

Why It Matters:

Your presence can bring peace, dignity, and comfort in a person’s final moments—and provide immeasurable support to families when they need it most.

Training & Support:

All volunteers receive training and ongoing support from our hospice team. You are never alone in this work—you are part of a caring, dedicated community.

If you feel called to make a meaningful difference during life’s most sacred moments, we would be honored to have you join us.
