Expired

Description

Volunteer Roles

Your role as a volunteer involves walking students along a planned route, fostering a sense of security, and building strong relationships with students and families. As a volunteer, you will NOT be asked to conduct traffic.

Plus, it is a health initiative: get your steps in while walking students to school. The Walking School bus is led by two paid conductors who are trained in traffic safety procedures. The conductors stop traffic and are responsible for safe crossings. Together, we can reduce absenteeism, improve neighborhood safety, and support student success!

Logistics

In the 25-26 School Year, we are seeking volunteers from 7am-9am every day that school is in session!

Join us in creating a safer, more accessible route to school for Wilson Middle and Whittier Elementary school students in Albuquerque's International District.

A Walking School Bus is a group of students with a minimum of two adults who walk a planned route to school. The Walking School Bus ensures that students walk to school with trusted adults, promoting safety and community engagement.
