Volunteer Shift Descriptions
- 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM | Set-up: Volunteers will help set up the event. This includes moving tables and chairs, as well as helping vendors unload items from their vehicles and to their assigned table.
- 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM | All-day support: Whatever & wherever support is needed, including any of the other volunteer roles listed in other shifts.
- 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM | Registration: Volunteers will help participants sign in and get information about the event
- 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM | Spanish interpretation support: Volunteers will assist with conversational Spanish interpretation throughout the event. Certification is not required; volunteers should be comfortable interpreting everyday conversations.
- 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM | Navigation: Volunteers will be available to navigate participants throughout the event.
- 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM | Soccer Activity Support: Volunteers will assist with check-in and help support the Somos Unidos Foundation soccer play area by welcoming families, answering questions, and providing support as needed during the event.
- 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM | Clean-up: Volunteers will assist with event clean-up, including helping vendors load their vehicles, putting away tables and chairs, collecting trash, and restoring the event site.
Event Description
UNM Hospital invites you to support a day of education, empowerment, and community engagement focused on multicultural diabetes wellness. Join us for a free event that will provide community members with valuable knowledge, connect them with expert healthcare professionals, and provide essential resources to support their journey toward better diabetes management.
The event will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the Westgate Community Center, 10001 De Vargas Rd SW, Albuquerque, NM 87121, from 10 am- 1 pm
Of note: you must be 12 years of age or older to volunteer, and anyone between the ages of 12-15 will need to be accompanied by an adult.
