Description

Come join us for a morning of community service in the Bosque! The National River Cleanup® was started in 1991 by two organizations, American Rivers and America Outdoors. It takes place every year on the third Saturday in May. Here in ABQ, the City of Albuquerque Open Space Division and the Open Space Alliance host an annual cleanup event near the Central Avenue bridge over the Rio Grande. This year on May 17th, volunteers please park at the north end of Tingley Beach and then cross Central to meet at the picnic area near the Paseo del Bosque trailhead on the north side of Central, east side of the river (Please see map), to enjoy donated morning snacks before heading out to pick up trash along the shoreline and on the trails. Prize for the weirdest piece of trash! We’ll also hold a raffle with other prizes donated by local businesses.

Please bring sturdy footwear, work gloves, water, sunglasses and sunscreen. A hat is also recommended. Parking is very limited, so please carpool (or bike!) if you can. Hope you can join us!

If you have questions or if you would like to sign up as a group, please contact Jim Sattler, JSattler@cabq.gov.
