Volunteer Role: Juneteenth Chaperones
Overview: Be a part of our vibrant Juneteenth celebration by volunteering as a chaperone for the "Dance Dance Dance: It's a Teen Thing" event. As a chaperone, you will help ensure a safe, fun, and respectful environment for all teen attendees, fostering a sense of community and celebration of Juneteenth.
Responsibilities:
Supervision and Safety:
- Oversee the activities and behavior of teens to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment.
- Monitor entrance and exit points to maintain security and control access to the event.
- Be vigilant for any signs of trouble or safety concerns, and address them promptly.
Engagement and Interaction:
- Interact positively with teens, encouraging participation in activities and promoting a respectful atmosphere.
- Provide assistance and guidance to teens as needed, answering questions and offering support.
Enforcement of Rules:
- Ensure that event rules and guidelines are followed by all attendees.
- Address any inappropriate behavior or rule violations in a calm and respectful manner.
- Work with event staff to resolve any conflicts or issues that arise.
Support Event Activities:
- Assist with the setup and takedown of event decorations, equipment, and materials.
- Help manage and coordinate event activities, ensuring they run smoothly and on schedule.
- Support other volunteers and event staff as needed, contributing to the overall success of the event.
Requirements:
- Friendly, approachable, and responsible demeanor with a passion for working with teens.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging situations effectively.
- Commitment to the duration of your volunteer shift, including pre-event training if required.
- Previous experience in chaperoning or working with youth is a plus, but not mandatory.
