Volunteers Make ABQ CiQlovía Happen!
Each year ABQ CiQlovía event is powered by about 40-50 volunteers on event day. We hope you'll join us, meet others from the neighborhood, and enjoy your city in a whole new way.
How will volunteers help out?
Volunteers will have a variety of opportunities at CiQlovía 2023. Each role will have at least a morning and an afternoon shift. Volunteers will be provided with necessary materials and will be expected to complete shifts without supervision.
We encourage you to sign up to work the shift with friends or coworkers! Just send them the link to this page. Volunteers will receive a CiQlovía t-shirt (first come, first-serve) and a big thank-you from the CiQlovía Team!
We will reach out to registered volunteers closer to the date of the event with additional details.
Route Rabbits will:
- Have their own bicycle, skateboard, scooter, or skates *This is recommended due to the size of area*
- Wear a helmet at all times - safety first!
- Circulate through a portion (0.25-.50 miles) of route for duration of their shift
- Encourage people to move into the roadway and off of the sidewalks
- As the beginning of an activity/event nears (in 30, 20, 15, 10, 5 minutes), advise participants to check it out by directing them the correct area
- Under the direction of the Volunteer Coordinator, circulate throughout your assigned portion of the route
- Answer questions as necessary
- Check in with organizations that are tabling and participants that you see
What is CiQlovía?
CiQlovía is the Albuquerque version of the global phenomenon known as ciclovía or open streets. The word refers to events where city streets are closed to cars and opened up to people on foot and on bike, outdoor exercise classes, shopping, live music and other activities.
