The Feline Right at Home Program is designed to help shy, fearful, under-socialized, or behaviorally stressed cats become more comfortable with people and better prepared for adoption. Volunteers in this specialized role receive training in feline behavior modification (bmod) techniques and low-stress handling strategies used in shelter environments. Participants learn how to read feline body language, recognize stress signals, build trust through choice-based interactions, use positive reinforcement and enrichment tools, and apply confidence-building exercises tailored to each cat’s needs. Volunteers also learn techniques for reducing fear, encouraging engagement, and creating positive associations with human interaction. Through calm, consistent sessions, volunteers play a critical role in improving cats’ emotional wellbeing, quality of life, and adoptability while documenting behavioral progress and sharing observations with staff.
To be able to respond to this opportunity you should have taken the Cat Behavior Training online and have had a Cat Shadowing session with a Senior Volunteer - and remember you have to upload your certificates obtained by the end of trainings as qualifications.
