Join Tree New Mexico as we help grow Albuquerque's urban forest in the Hoffmantown neighborhood on September 26, 2026
Whether you're a first-time volunteer or a longtime tree planter, we'd love to have you join us. No experience is necessary—our trained Team Leaders will provide all the guidance, tools, and support you need. Together, we'll plant trees that help create cooler neighborhoods, cleaner air, and a healthier, more beautiful Albuquerque for generations to come.
Volunteers will be assigned to a small team led by an experienced Team Leader. Teams may walk or carpool between planting locations depending on the neighborhood layout. Tree New Mexico will have everything prepared in advance, including pre-dug planting holes, trees, mulch, hoses, and water.
This is an active outdoor volunteer opportunity that may include standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting trees weighing up to 15 pounds. Depending on volunteer turnout, teams may plant up to eight trees during the event. Volunteers should plan to spend approximately 4 hours at the event.
Please bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and a hat, and wear closed-toe shoes. Staying hydrated and protecting your skin from the sun is especially important while working outdoors, so we encourage you to come prepared for the weather. If you have a green Tree New Mexico T-shirt, we'd love for you to wear it. A limited number of shirts will also be available at the Welcome Table.
For everyone's safety, please leave pets at home. Children ages 11 and older are welcome to participate with a parent or guardian, and youth ages 15 and older may participate as adult volunteers. Tree planting takes place outdoors and will proceed in most weather conditions. If severe weather affects the event, participants will be notified of any changes.
We'll email the exact meeting location, sign-in information, and event details approximately two weeks before the event. If you have accessibility needs or questions about the physical requirements of the planting, please contact us in advance and we'll do our best to help.
Come ready to get your hands dirty, meet fellow volunteers, and make a lasting impact—one tree at a time!
