- Sorting and Re-packing Children’s Books for Donation, BEGINNING SEPT. 8th: Mondays 1.00pm - 3.30pm; WEDNESDAY and FRIDAY mornings, 9.30 - Noon. THROUGH October 1st, 2021.
Volunteers should report to the Book Room at 601 Yale SE, in the CABQ Yale Transit Facility, to unpack boxes of incoming (gently-used) books. Books are quickly assessed for damage and suitability, then sorted into categories (Infant/Toddler, Pre-K, Grades 1-2, Grades 3-5, Teens, and Adult). Boxes which are too heavy are unpacked in smaller batches. Once sorted, books are then repacked into outgoing, labeled boxes.
The Book Room is located at 601 Yale SE, a couple short blocks south of Coal Ave, in the south east quadrant of the City Transit Maintenance Facility. There is usually parking for at least eight vehicles directly in front of the three southern-most large BLUE bus garage doors on the west side of Yale Ave, directly across from the cemetery, and directly north of The Quarters Package Liquor store. If the glass door marked “Fire Exit” is not open, please knock. If no one answers the door, they probably can’t hear the knocking, so call for entry:
- Call Dave O. on Mondays and Wednesdays, 505-681-6325
- Call Kathy Chilton on Fridays, 505-710-1929
Thanks very much for your support ! Sincerely, Dave O, Read to Me! Coordinator
