2021/2022 Masters Road National Championships
The City of Albuquerque will be hosting the Master's Road Bicycle Racing National Championships in 2021 and 2022. This event is expected to bring in over 800 elite athletes from all across the United States. Our city was selected for this honor due to the incredible success of the 2019 National Senior Games, hosted in collaboration between the City of Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, and Visit Albuquerque.
The Masters Road National Championships will take place over 4 days, August 5th-August 8th. Set up begins August 4th for the Time Trial. We will need set up volunteers the day prior to the scheduled event and we will need volunteers to assist with day-of logistics on race day.
We will need considerable volunteer support to welcome the cyclists, prepare the courses, and support day-of race operations to ensure that all athletes perform at their best, focus on their sport, and learn why Albuquerque is such a cyclist-friendly city--with our beautiful views and 310+ days each year with ideal cycling conditions.
Traffic Flagger Volunteers
Traffic flagger volunteers will play a critical role in ensuring rider safety on the course. Traffic flaggers must attend one of the two trainings below in addition to attending the shift for which they register. Traffic flagging trainings will prepare volunteers to exchange traffic information with other flaggers, understand the standard flagging signals, and interact effectively/safely with motor vehicles while flagging. Traffic flagger volunteers will need to stand/walk for the duration of the shift.
Traffic Flagger Trainings @ Sid Cutter Pavillion
Volunteers who do not attend one of these two trainings may be removed to make room for trained volunteers. This is a safety critical position.
