Volunteers are needed to help City of Albuquerque staff maintain our three greenhouses and interior plants at various locations around the city. Assist Greenhouse staff with tasks such as potting and repotting of plants; plant propagation; care and maintenance of annuals, perennials, orchids, and tropical.
This work helps to care for the greenhouse, but it's also an opportunity for volunteers to learn new skills and develop their individual gardening interests with the guidance of our expert staff. We rely on our volunteers. We strive to insure their involvement and experience here is rewarding.
Qualifications include: Must be able to volunteer weekdays between the hours of 7am - 1pm; a good attitude; be flexible and dependable; have the ability to work independently and with great attention to detail; possess a willingness to work in hot greenhouse conditions; stand hours at a time but can certainly take breaks; be able to bend and stoop; knowledge of basic plant care and use of hand tools is also necessary; and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
