Position Information: Greeters welcome visitors to STEAM Night and circulate throughout the museum to monitor activity, answer questions, and help people feel welcome at this family-friendly event.

 

Considerations: STEAM Night volunteers may spend a lot of time on their feet, moving around to interact with visitors.

Position Information:  Activity Assistants create a welcoming, supportive environment for visitors by encouraging participation in hands-on activities.  These range from STEAM experiments to craft projects.  Volunteers demonstrate, answer questions, keep the space tidy, replenish materials, and clean up after participants as needed.  They assist with simple set up and clean up before and after the event.

 

Considerations: Continuous standing, walking, and bending required inside and potentially outside of the museum around the STEAM night activity stations.

***This position is only open to experienced Balloon Museum volunteers***

 

Position Information: Shift Support Leaders circulate throughout the Museum as the main point of contact and support for all volunteers on shifts where the Volunteer Coordinator is not available. They check in with volunteers, fill in as needed for short breaks, and serve as liaison between the volunteers and the staff Manager on Duty to troubleshoot minor issues. Shift Support may also be asked to oversee volunteer check-in/outs for their shift.

 

Considerations: This position involves continuous walking around both inside and outside the Balloon Museum and entails a level of responsibility beyond other volunteer positions.

 

Shift Support Volunteers MUST sign up and attend the Shift Support Training on Thursday, September 24th at 3pm.  If you cannot attend, please contact Diane right away: 505-768-6032 / dshort@cabq.gov.

 

“Balloons in the Sky” is a family friendly morning in which we partner with Explora to provide an exciting array of hands-on activities related to air, wind, and ballooning - here at the Balloon Museum.

 

Position Information: Individuals who enjoy working with young children and interacting with the public are invited to volunteer in this position. Hosts welcome visitors to the interactive Elevation Station, demonstrate and answer questions, and kindly ensure that exhibit interactives are being handled appropriately.  Hosts restock materials as necessary and coordinate with Museum staff to troubleshoot technical issues in the exhibit, if needed. Volunteers also monitor capacity in the space during the “Balloons in the Sky” event.

All new and returning volunteers are required to attend one Balloon Museum Fiesta Volunteer Training. At this session, you will:

 

·         Learn more about the current Balloon Fiesta and how the museum runs during this time. This includes information on the daily schedule, special events at the museum, frequently asked questions, and more. 

·         Sign up for available volunteer shifts (if you haven't signed up on OneABQVolunteers.com already)

·         Pick up your volunteer badge and parking pass

·         Have your questions answered

·         Meet your fellow volunteers 

 

This training is REQUIRED to help you have the most successful time here at the museum. If you cannot attend one of these dates, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator, Diane Short, right away: 505-768-6032 / dshort@cabq.gov

Position Information: Museum Greeters welcome visitors warmly as they enter and circulate within the Balloon Museum. They offer directional information, provide low-key guidance, and answer general questions about the museum and Fiesta. We will provide you with plenty of training and information. This position offers a great opportunity to meet people from all around the world!

 

Specific stations will be assigned at the start of each shift and may rotate to meet the needs of the moment. We are hoping to have 6 Greeters on each shift to allow for optimum flexibility.

 

Considerations: Continuous standing and mobility required inside and occasionally outside the museum. Accommodations can be made for periodic seating if physical conditions require. Breaks provided during each shift.
