Opportunities From: One Albuquerque Volunteers

Volunteer: Docent/Tour Guide

Educating New Mexico's students is critical to our mission. Each year, NMHIM welcomes hundreds of middle and high school students to the museum, where they receive a docent-led tour and a presentation by a Holocaust survivor or survivor-descendant. We are looking for passionate, dedicated individuals to join our docent team.

As a docent, you will be trained to educate students using the museum's artifacts, exhibits, and collections. Tours typically last between 45 minutes to an hour. Tours will be assigned based on availability.

Volunteer: Front Door Greeter

As a museum with a small staff, we rely on our incredible volunteers to keep the museum running day-to-day. Front Desk Greeters are the friendly face of the museum; they welcome visitors, answer questions, and assist in our small gift shop. Other responsibilities include turning exhibit media on at the beginning of the shift and off at the end, as well as light janitorial duties.

All volunteers receive free parking downtown, a museum t-shirt, and a 10% discount on items in the gift shop. Most days include some downtime between visitors; you are welcome to bring in your own books, laptops, or classwork, making this a great position for students.
