Opportunities From: One Albuquerque Volunteers

Help us assemble sweet treats and enrichment items to help keep our pets mentally active, curious and stimulated. Come to the Eastside Shelter and you will have all the materials needed or ask about good options to make the items at home or outside our facilities by emailing awdvolunteer@cabq.gov.

Minors may need to be accompanied by an adult.

The University of New Mexico Track and Field Team is looking for community members to help facilitate our home meets in the Albuquerque Convention Center this upcoming January and February . Multiple volunteer opportunities are available, across four different weekends here in ABQ with varying types of roles. Some roles are sedentary, some mainly on your feet and some with a mix of both. 

We host home meets on the following weekends: 

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Invitational : January 23-24

New Mexico Team Open : January 30-31

New Mexico Collegiate Classic : February 6-7

Don Kirby Elite Invitational : February 13-14

We are looking for help in role(s) such as:

Track Officials (We will teach and certify you to officiate event disciplines if interested based on knowledge)

Live stat trackers (Computer based stat tracking for Field Events)

Misc track help (Hurdle Crew, Weigh-In, Check-In, Spike-Check, Etc)

Esports events are organized by Parks and Recreation in the community room at Central and Unser Library, typically on the 4th Saturday of the month, from 9:00a.m. to 6:00p.m. Volunteers help assist with a wide variety of tournament functions, such as unloading equipment, arranging table layouts, plugging in computers and consoles, reporting tournament results, and moderating gameplay. Parks and Recreation will provide all equipment necessary and guide volunteers on proper setup procedures.

Register at least 3 days before the event.  We will email the location and specific time to meet for sign-in two weeks before the event. This helps us communicate more effectively and limit last minute changes and communication difficulties. 

Only water is allowed in the community room, all food and drinks are prohibited at the library.

Esports events are organized by Parks and Recreation in the X Teen Studio at Explora, typically every other Sunday from 11:00a.m. – 5:00p.m.

The Albuquerque Mayor's Youth Advisory Council (MYAC) is a group of young people who provide advice and input to the city's mayor and other officials on issues affecting youth in the community. The council advises the mayor and city officials on policies, programs, and initiatives that impact young people. This includes providing insights on issues such as education, public safety, health, and recreational activities.
