Imagine Barelas in partnership with Imagine ABQ

Imagine Barelas turns community ideas into action through the broader Imagine, ABQ effort. We bring residents and partners together for neighborhood cleanups, beautification, public art, landscaping, community events, cultural celebration, support for local businesses, activation of overlooked spaces, and other projects that strengthen Barelas. Our work begins by listening. We identify opportunities within the neighborhood and connect residents, businesses, artists, organizations, volunteers, and community institutions with people and resources that can help bring ideas to life. Some efforts may be as simple as cleaning a block, adding plants, painting a space, or supporting a local business. Others may grow into larger collaborations involving public art, historic spaces, community gathering places, and long-term neighborhood improvements. Every project is an opportunity to celebrate what makes Barelas special, strengthen community pride, and show what is possible when people work together. Imagine the possibilities. Imagine Barelas!

Imagine Barelas is a neighborhood-focused effort of Imagine, ABQ, bringing the larger movement's spirit of community, collaboration, and possibility directly into Barelas. We are neighbors, community organizations, local businesses, artists, volunteers, and partners working together to celebrate and strengthen one of Albuquerque's oldest and most historic communities. Imagine Barelas is not about changing what makes Barelas special. It is about recognizing what already exists, honoring the people and generations who built this community, caring for the places we share, and creating new opportunities for the neighborhood's future. We believe Barelas belongs to its community, and its future should be imagined with its community.
