Who We Are

The Health, Housing and Homelessness Department is a key player in the City's effort to end homelessness. Our services include prevention, outreach, shelter, housing programs, and supportive services.

Family Gateway is a key part of this mission. Housing over 200 youth and continually expanding in resources and support, our goal is to provide these children and their families with activities that are enriching and ultimately conducive to a better standard of living. Come be a part of the work we're doing!

What We Do

The Family Housing Navigation Center is looking for volunteers to support homeless youth from infancy up to high school age with fun, engaging, and constructive activities! We have over 200 kids who need your support and community engagement!

Activity focus and times are flexible - according to the interest and skills of volunteers. We have kids and staff here all hours of the day and week, so we will work with your availability!

This is a great volunteer opportunity for community members to help kids experiencing homelessness with activities such as:

  • Arts and Crafts
  • Recreation
  • Tutoring
  • Donation Sorting
  • Read aloud
  • Library maintenance

The Family Housing Navigation Center location will not be disclosed until there is personal contact and commitment to volunteer as we are keeping the location confidential to protect the safety and privacy of the families. Once you are determined to be a suitable volunteer, you will be sent more information via email.

The location is in town and on bus lines.

Please respond to our available opportunities and submit your qualifications today so we can get you volunteering and supporting our kids!
