UNM Hospital: Employee Well-Being and Engagement

We believe employees thrive when they feel appreciated, connected, and supported. The Employee Well-Being & Engagement department works to support a workplace where employees feel seen, valued, and engaged throughout their journey at UNM Hospital.

A significant part of our volunteer work focuses on employee engagement and recognition. By partnering with leaders, departments, employees, and volunteers across the organization, we strengthen workplace connections, celebrate meaningful contributions, gather employee feedback, and create opportunities that promote belonging and organizational pride.

Our work includes:

• Administering employee recognition programs, including iCare, Employee of the Month, Employee of the Year, the BEE Award, and other recognition initiatives
• Planning employee appreciation events, celebrations, and engagement activities
• Supporting leaders and teams with engagement strategies and action planning
• Reviewing employee engagement survey results and identifying opportunities for improvement
• Consulting with leaders to address engagement challenges and strengthen team culture
• Partnering with departments and workgroups to improve morale, recognition, communication, and connection
• Developing recognition campaigns, communications, and appreciation resources
• Facilitating employee service teams, engagement champions, and recognition committees
• Gathering employee feedback and helping translate it into meaningful action
• Promoting employee well-being, appreciation, belonging, and organizational pride throughout UNM Hospital

As a Service Team:

• Serve as engagement ambassadors within our departments
• Support employee appreciation and recognition initiatives
• Volunteer at employee events and activities
• Share feedback and ideas to enhance the employee experience
• Promote engagement opportunities and resources
• Help to support a culture of appreciation, connection, and belonging
