Who We Are

In the early 1950s, Shirley and Ward Alan Minge took a late 19th century building and turned it into a plazuela-style rancho to house their exuberant collection of New Mexico vernacular art. They lived there for many years, and then donated the property to the City of Albuquerque in the late 1990s. Neighbors and friends still talk about the fun they had at the Minges' dinner parties. We capture some of that fun in the many events throughout the year, including free monthly programs, a Spring Heritage Festival (May 18, 2024), a Fall Harvest Festival (September 28 & 29, 2024). Your family will want to come back again and again. Come join us!

What We Do

The purpose of the Casa San Ysidro volunteer Docent program is to provide qualified people to support the Site and its programs. Docents are needed to assist with special events and programs and to guide visitors from around the US and around the world on public and Magic Bus school tours. Our goal is to inspire our visitors as well as providing educational opportunities.

Because Casa San Ysidro represents the farm and ranch, as well as Hispanic and Native heritage of New Mexico, we also invite people from this heritage to Join our Docent program and share their stories with our visitors.
